Sunbird Software Turns One: A Look Back

This week marked a momentous event for Sunbird Software: our first birthday. Over the past year, we’ve made significant progress as an independent, pure-play Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software company, and our teams across the globe celebrated in style—with good eats, a little competitive volleyball, and, most importantly, birthday cake. In the midst of the festivities, it would have been easy to lose sight of everyone who contributed to this year’s success. That’s why this birthday was the perfect opportunity to consciously reflect on how we arrived at where we are today and where we plan to go in the future.
Customer Success Is Our Success.
Our spinoff from Raritan, Inc. one year ago marked the beginning of our remarkable journey. Since then, our global team has grown to over 60 professionals, each with a unique blend of technical expertise and industry knowledge that enables us to provide our customers with DCIM solutions that not only address their current needs but also scale with them well into the future.
This focus on customer success is the driving force behind everything we do. Every facet of our DCIM solutions—from development to implementation and training—is rooted in the long-lasting relationships we’ve forged and continued to nurture with our customers. Listening to our customers is critical to our product development process and helps us ensure that our solutions address real user problems. Our customers actively challenge us to continuously innovate, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Our strategic partnerships also have contributed to our success. They have enabled us to enter new markets to rapidly reach more customers. Our partners expand and complement our capabilities so we can provide comprehensive solutions with exceptional service.
First-Year Milestones
Combined with the passion and determination of our global team, the trust and support from our customers and partners propelled us to achieve a number of milestones over the past year:

  • Over 1000 customers spanning more than 17 industries are using our DCIM solutions to better manage their data centers. These include financial services, life sciences, healthcare, utilities, technology, and government organizations.
  • We’re working with over 100 sales partners to reach customers in North America, EMEA, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific regions.
  • We introduced a number of feature enhancements for our DCIM solutions, including 3D data center floor map visualizations and Microsoft Hyper-V support. (With more to come!)
  • We were recognized as a Major Player in the DCIM industry by IDC and were named one of the 20 Most Promising DataCenter Solution Providers 2016 by CIOReview. Additionally, Sunbird was featured for the second year in the Gartner Magic Quadrant (one of only 15 vendors featured) as a top pure-play DCIM software vendor.

None of these achievements would have been possible without our team, customers, and partners. However, the fact that we were able to accomplish so much in such little time also confirms for us that we’re taking the right steps to accomplish our goals and solidify our position as a DCIM innovator.
We’re Just Getting Started.
So what’s next for Sunbird?
From the beginning, we’ve been on a mission to radically simplify data center management through elegant software. We’ll continue to focus on real user challenges and solve them through new and enhanced features. We’ll innovate and accelerate our product development for faster time to market. We’ll explore current and emerging trends to identify and address shifts in the DCIM landscape. And we’ll do all of this and more to enable our customers to manage their data center operations and monitoring with ease and efficiency.
